Collagen Gelatin Molds with Green Grapes

I created these Collagen Grape Gelatin Molds as a simple way to add more collagen to my diet. Made with beef gelatin, chia seeds, clove tea, butterfly pea tea, and crisp green grapes, each cupcake-size mold has a firm Jell-O-like texture with bursts of natural sweetness from the grapes.

What Do These Gelatin Molds Taste Like?

These molds taste like unsweetened, minty-spiced Jell-O. The cloves give them a strong, refreshing flavor, while the crisp green grapes provide little bursts of natural sweetness. If you prefer a sweeter gelatin, add your favorite sweetener to taste.

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons beef gelatin powder
  • Cool water, as needed to bloom the gelatin
  • 1½ tablespoons chia seeds
  • Water, as needed to soak the chia seeds
  • 1 cup hot clove tea, prepared with about 10 whole cloves
  • 1 cup butterfly pea tea, prepared with 1 tea bag
  • 20 green grapes
  • Preferred sweetener, to taste (optional)

Directions

  1. Place the beef gelatin powder in a small bowl. Add just enough cool water to moisten it and allow it to bloom.
  2. In a separate bowl, soak the chia seeds in enough water to let them expand.
  3. Combine the bloomed gelatin and soaked chia seeds in a mixing bowl.
  4. Add the hot clove tea and butterfly pea tea. Stir until the gelatin has completely dissolved and everything is well combined.
  5. Add your preferred sweetener to taste, if desired.
  6. Pour the mixture evenly into six candy molds or molds of your choice.
  7. Add 3–4 green grapes to each mold.
  8. Refrigerate for 3–4 hours, or until completely set.
  9. Gently remove the gelatin molds and enjoy.

What I Paid for the Ingredients

These are the prices I paid for the full packages. This recipe uses only a portion of each item, so the actual cost of making six molds is much lower.

  • Beef gelatin powder: $5.97
  • Chia seeds: $13.97
  • Large container of green grapes: $5.97
  • Whole cloves: $4.96
  • Butterfly pea tea: $4.86
  • Subtotal: $35.73
  • 7% tax: $2.50
  • Total purchase cost: $38.23

Recipe Notes

  • Makes six cupcake-size gelatin molds.
  • Butterfly pea tea gives the gelatin its naturally dark color.
  • Whole cloves are very potent. Start with fewer cloves if you prefer a milder flavor.
  • These molds are unsweetened. Add your preferred sweetener if desired.
  • Use any candy mold or silicone mold you have available.
